Genitial Wart

The problem with warts (a tiny rough unsightly tumor) is they can grow almost anywhere on the body including inside the mouth and genitals but are most usually seen on the hands and feet. Common warts on the skin may be passed to another person when that person touches the warts but it is also possible to get warts from using towels or other objects that were used by a person who has warts.

With the exception of warts that are found on the soles of the feet, warts are usually quite painless but genital warts are highly contagious; caught during acts of sex, even oral. Strangely, warts only seem to affect people after the age of three and women can actually have them inside the vagina and be completely unaware they are there.

Warts generally appear after a person has cut or grazed themselves and can spread from there but other than being unsightly, they do not normally cause any harm although that does not mean it isn’t beneficial to have them removed on occasion. A common reason for eradicating warts is to stop further spread but even when this is achieved, they can return at any time and for some people they can become a persistent nuisance. A common method of removing them is by the application of liquid nitrogen and after a few treatments they usually drop of but this has to be performed by a doctor.

Genitial Wart...

Whilst warts all tend to be referred to as common warts, this is not the case as there are a large number of variations. The 100 hundred different type of wart in the human papillomavirus group are quite focused in the areas they attack including those that are found in the genitalia.

Often warts appear when people bite their nails as the delicate skin is an ideal area for growth but some people are not as susceptible to warts as others although the reason for this at present unknown. This is the area the common wart is most frequently found, around the cuticles at the finger tips and recognized by the cauliflower like appearance of the tumor which sometimes grow in groups; the small black dots that are in the center are actually blood vessels.

The warts sometimes seen on the face, legs and arms are the flat warts which are much smaller that their common wart cousins; they are also smoother and skin colored but they can often be found in groups which may contain many, even a 100 or more. Anal and genital warts are much more serious not just because they are highly infectious but they are in particularly sensitive areas of the body and can be found internally, even inside the urethra.

Often warts disappear on their own, although it may take many months, or even years, for the warts to go away but some warts won’t go away on their own and this is where over-the-counter options are useful. Ointments containing salicylic acid are the most popular forms of wart and verruca removal but the instructions must be followed to the letter if the treatment is t be successful.
