Gential Warts

Most people at some time or another will suffer with a small circular tumor on the surface of their skin commonly known as a wart and whilst it will probably be on either their hands or feet, they can be found on any part of the skins surface. Some people are more likely to get warts than others in an these instances they can even catch them form using the towel of someone who has them but any skin contact could mean they will be passed on.

Warts on the genitals are very contagious and can be passed to another person during oral, vaginal or anal sex but warts are usually painless with the exception of the warts on the soles of the feet. Warts are rarely seen on children under the age of three, but after this age they become more frequent and in women, warts can grow on the cervix (inside the vagina), and a woman may not know she has them.

There isn’t normally any reason to have warts removed as they don’t prove normally to be a problem but if they are the result of an incision then they can start spreading especially if picked at. A common reason for eradicating warts is to stop further spread but even when this is achieved, they can return at any time and for some people they can become a persistent nuisance. A doctor can also freeze warts and verrucas away with liquid nitrogen but often several freezing treatments will be necessary before the warts are totally removed.

Gential Warts...

The human papillomavirus family of viruses which cause warts is actually quite large despite most people perception that all warts are fairly similar. The 100 hundred different type of wart in the human papillomavirus group are quite focused in the areas they attack including those that are found in the genitalia.

Not everyone gets warts, although the reason for this remain to be discovered but for those who are susceptible, they can even be contracted by biting their nails to close to the skin at the end of the finger. The surface of the common wart has the appearance of a cauliflower and often contains tiny black dots which are in fact blood vessels that have clotted and are most often seen near the tips of fingers, sometimes in a group.

The flat wart is much smoother than a common wart and may be tan colored with a smoother surface; these tend to congregate on the legs, arms or face and in more sever cases the person may have hundreds. Warts that affect the genitals and anus vary in size and shape, some looking like large common warts to others that are small and shiny; they can even be found inside the urethra, vagina and anus.

It is not known why but often warts will vanish on their own but in some cases this can take years, others however, require a little help as they are persistent and show no signs of disappearing. The most common type of treatment involves salicylic acid which is readily available at drugstores and supermarkets but remember that removing a wart with salicylic acid requires a strict regimen of cleaning the area, applying the acid, and removing the dead skin with a pumice stone or emery board.
