Ranitidine Plantar Warts

Most people at some time or another will suffer with a small circular tumor on the surface of their skin commonly known as a wart and whilst it will probably be on either their hands or feet, they can be found on any part of the skins surface. The common wart which is more than likely those found on someone’s fingers or hands are still contagious if they are touched but it is not uncommon for someone to contract warts from using the towel of someone who has the condition.

With the exception of warts that are found on the soles of the feet, warts are usually quite painless but genital warts are highly contagious; caught during acts of sex, even oral. Women can actually have warts on the inside of the vaginal walls and not know they have the growths.

There isn’t normally any reason to have warts removed as they don’t prove normally to be a problem but if they are the result of an incision then they can start spreading especially if picked at. One reason to treat warts is to prevent them from spreading further, but common warts may recur after treatment, and they may be a persistent problem. The favorite method of getting rid of warts by doctors is with liquid nitrogen which is extremely cold but even this usually takes more than one application.

Most people are aware of the common wart but many different strains exist. There are in fact in excess of one hundred different types of warts in the human papillomavirus family; each is specific to an area or the body.

Not everyone gets warts, although the reason for this remain to be discovered but for those who are susceptible, they can even be contracted by biting their nails to close to the skin at the end of the finger. The surface of the common wart has the appearance of a cauliflower and often contains tiny black dots which are in fact blood vessels that have clotted and are most often seen near the tips of fingers, sometimes in a group.

Another type of wart is the flat wart that just rises above the surface of the skin and is ‘flat’; these tend to appear more on areas of the face, arms or legs and will sometimes be seen in very large groups. Anal and genital warts are much more serious not just because they are highly infectious but they are in particularly sensitive areas of the body and can be found internally, even inside the urethra.

It is quite common for warts to disappear on their own although it cab take years for this to happen or as short as a few months, but some warts are stubborn and require additional treatment. The most common type of treatment involves salicylic acid which is readily available at drugstores and supermarkets but remember that removing a wart with salicylic acid requires a strict regimen of cleaning the area, applying the acid, and removing the dead skin with a pumice stone or emery board.
