Warts Genital

Warts are one of the more unsightly types of tumor that grow externally on a persons body and are generally most prevalent and the hands or feet but they can also grow around male and female genitals, even on the inside of the mouth. Common warts on the skin may be passed to another person when that person touches the warts but it is also possible to get warts from using towels or other objects that were used by a person who has warts.

Even though genital warts are like most other warts, do not cause any pain (except warts on the areas of the foot where you apply pressure when walking) but are nonetheless highly contagious and can be contracted during any type of sexual act. Strangely, warts only seem to affect people after the age of three and women can actually have them inside the vagina and be completely unaware they are there.

Broken areas of skin are more susceptible to warts as the virus has easy access and they can spread when picked at by children although they do not generally cause any problems other than how they appear to others so it isn’t always necessary to get rid of them. One reason to treat warts is to prevent them from spreading further, but common warts may recur after treatment, and they may be a persistent problem. A doctor can also freeze warts and verrucas away with liquid nitrogen but often several freezing treatments will be necessary before the warts are totally removed.

Warts Genital...

The human papillomavirus family of viruses which cause warts is actually quite large despite most people perception that all warts are fairly similar. There are in fact in excess of one hundred different types of warts in the human papillomavirus family; each is specific to an area or the body.

The most frequently seen wart is that on the ends of fingers, often the result of a person biting their nails which can leave the skin tender but not everyone has the same problems with warts but why some people are more prone to getting them than others remains a mystery. This is the area the common wart is most frequently found, around the cuticles at the finger tips and recognized by the cauliflower like appearance of the tumor which sometimes grow in groups; the small black dots that are in the center are actually blood vessels.

Another type of wart is the flat wart that just rises above the surface of the skin and is ‘flat’; these tend to appear more on areas of the face, arms or legs and will sometimes be seen in very large groups. Ano-genital warts are flesh to gray in color, grow in mucous membranes, and vary in size from small, shiny papules, to large cauliflower like lesions and can extend internally into the vagina and cervix, the rectal area, and inside the urethra.

It is not known why but often warts will vanish on their own but in some cases this can take years, others however, require a little help as they are persistent and show no signs of disappearing. Most people that want to rid themselves of warts or verrucas will by an ointment with salicylic acid as the active ingredient which is generally very successful at getting rid of them but it is important to follow the enclosed instructions to the letter as a strict program of cleaning is necessary.
