Warts On Children
A wart is generally a small, rough tumor, typically on hands and feet, that can resemble a cauliflower or a solid blister; they can grow on all parts of your body including on your skin, on the inside of your mouth, on your genitals and on your rectal area. Some people are unfortunate enough to catch their warts from someone else, even if is only because they used their towel.
Even though genital warts are like most other warts, do not cause any pain (except warts on the areas of the foot where you apply pressure when walking) but are nonetheless highly contagious and can be contracted during any type of sexual act. Strangely, warts only seem to affect people after the age of three and women can actually have them inside the vagina and be completely unaware they are there.
A tiny cut or scratch can make any area of skin more vulnerable to warts and, if a child picks at a wart, it can spread to other parts of the body but warts don’t generally cause any problems, so it’s not always necessary to have them removed, unless you have concerns. Many people have warts removed as they do not look pleasant or to stop them infecting other areas but even if the warts are removed there is no guarantee they will not return. The favorite method of getting rid of warts by doctors is with liquid nitrogen which is extremely cold but even this usually takes more than one application.
Warts On Children...
Common warts are a type of infection caused by viruses in the human papillomavirus family but there are many different types. The 100 hundred different type of wart in the human papillomavirus group are quite focused in the areas they attack including those that are found in the genitalia.
The most frequently seen wart is that on the ends of fingers, often the result of a person biting their nails which can leave the skin tender but not everyone has the same problems with warts but why some people are more prone to getting them than others remains a mystery. Those small cauliflower-like papules seen on people’s fingers, especially around the cuticle area are the common wart and these usually appear to have small dark specks in them which are blood vessels.
The warts sometimes seen on the face, legs and arms are the flat warts which are much smaller that their common wart cousins; they are also smoother and skin colored but they can often be found in groups which may contain many, even a 100 or more. Ano-genital warts are flesh to gray in color, grow in mucous membranes, and vary in size from small, shiny papules, to large cauliflower like lesions and can extend internally into the vagina and cervix, the rectal area, and inside the urethra.
Some warts may last many years and then just vanish whilst others will require intervention from a topical ointment or by the doctor. The most common type of treatment involves salicylic acid which is readily available at drugstores and supermarkets but remember that removing a wart with salicylic acid requires a strict regimen of cleaning the area, applying the acid, and removing the dead skin with a pumice stone or emery board.
